Resources

- AIM
- Alternative Investment Market operated by the London Stock Exchange
- Alternative energy
- Energy that is produced using biodegradable feedstock.
- Base load
- a base load power plant is one that provides a steady flow of power regardless of total power demand by the grid. These plants run at all times through the year except in the case of repairs or scheduled maintenance.
- Biodiesel
- A clean burning alternative fuel produced from domestic, renewable resources.
- Biodiesel Blend
- Pure biodiesel blended with petro diesel in varying proportions.
- Bioenergy
- Useful, renewable energy produced from organic matter.
- Biopower
- The use of biomass fuel to produce electric power.
- B20
- A biodiesel blend that is 20 percent (by volume) biodiesel and 80% petro diesel.
- B99
- Biodiesel blend that is 99 percent biodiesel and one percent petroleum diesel.
- BTU
- British Thermal Unit. The heating value that is released when fuel is burned.
- Combined Cycle Power Plant
- A power plant using a combination of gas and steam turbine cycles which allow for high efficiency power generation.
- Cogeneration Power Plant
- is an electricity producing facility with two sources with two avenues for production, biodiesel and by-product steam.
- Dual fuel power plant
- A power plant designed to run on natural gas and/or #2 diesel fuel.
- Feedstock
- base material required to produce biodiesel; sources include palm oil, canola
oil, rape seed, soy bean, used cooking oil, and animal tallow.
- Fossil fuels
- are hydrocarbons, primarily coal, fuel oil or natural gas, formed from the remains of dead plants and animals.
- Independent Power Producer
- A privately owned company with electricity generating assets (power plants). The company generates power which is purchased by an electric grid operator or a large industrial consumer.
- MW
- One MW (which equal 1,000,000 watts) where watt is the unit of power equal to one joule per second.
- Off take agreement
- An agreement with another party to buy RPL's power.
- PAH
- Polyclyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are potential cancer killing compounds that
are in emissions resulting from fuel burning. Burning biodiesel significantly
reduces these emissions.
- PPA
- A power purchase agreement for the sale of electricity to a third party.
- Renewable energy credit
- A credit awarded to power producers who use renewable fuel to generate electricity.
- Unburned Hydrocarbons and nitrous oxide
- Ozone and smog precursors. Biodiesel use results in a substantial reduction of unburned hydrocarbons.
